Years of painting, drawing, and an active imagination led Visual Designer, Olivia Bowman, to a career in the arts. Asking the “why” and “how” behind her visual work introduced Olivia to the world of human-centered design, sparking her curiosity and drive for building research-based solutions with a focus on user outcomes. Now, she channels her interests toward solving problems creatively, bringing ideas to fruition through thoughtful, well-crafted digital and print experiences. Her growing passion for the processes, concepts, and theories of both UX/UI and visual design has guided her toward this career direction. Olivia looks forward to the many new adventures that await her as a visual designer at IBM Design in Austin, TX!

PREPU
As a part of Mint Studio’s collaboration with UF Shands Health Hospital, my partner, Kendall Brandt, and I worked with Dr. Stephen Arce from Biomedical Engineering in the development of an application to support children before surgery.
LAYERS
Layers is a mobile app that helps users solve problems through the systematic process of Design Thinking. The purpose is to communicate the importance of reflection and ideation in the problem solving process, as well as to show how Design Thinking is a scalable and accessible approach. Users are taken through a step-by-step process in which they are presented with guiding questions and informative resources to aid their experience with introspective problem solving.
PANAMA CANAL MUSEUM COLLECTION
I created the visual identity for the Panama Canal Museum Collection located Smathers Library, which includes a logo, five-fold booklet and informational banner. The identity was designed in respect to the collection’s equal representation of Panamanian and American cultures, utilizing politically neutral style choices and an image-driven layout to showcase the historically significant content.
