HI, MY NAME IS

Taylor Franklin

favorite typeface: Nova Cut

FAVORITE HEXCODE: #CC8C00

MY FAVORITE STUDIO MEMORY IS:
I can’t possibly pick just one. But my favorite memories always came from the late night work sessions. Because even with all the hard work and many hours, there was a constant support group, lots of laughs, and just an all around positive energy. I’ll never forget the late night skate sessions, movie nights, karaoke breaks, Lotería games, bad reality tv reviews, terrible British accents, midnight coffee trips, figuring out zodiac compatibility, watching ghost adventures, and so much more. My two years in Studio 314 are just one big happy memory for me.

RGB or CMYK?:  CMYK

MY SIGN: Aries

Taylor Franklin is a user experience and brand designer with a love for history and visual storytelling. Her skill set includes specialization in package design, editorial design, and brand development. Designing a visual system that tells a story and communicates a feeling across a platform or physical print artifact is what she loves most about the work she creates. As a result, understanding the history behind each subject she designs for is an important part of her practice and her goal to connect people and ideas through design and curiosity.

here are some samples of my work:

Women of Print

Women of Print is an interactive book featuring a diverse array of women in print design. It showcases 20 designers and 20 projects through bold monochromatic spreads and pull-out cards between pages that engage users with bio-facts, quotes, and QR codes to encourage further exploration through an easily transportable form. This book is an homage to the wonders of print that seeks to help elevate a more diverse canon of graphic design.

because the internet

This project is a vinyl album experience redesign for Childish Gambino’s Because the Internet (2013) featuring an album sleeve, vinyl record, and concert poster. The packaging with its piercingly vibrant layers of color framed in gold foil exposes jarring anatomical imagery beneath. With analog code floating around each corner the project’s design explores, across multiple forms, the narrative Gambino shares of the deep repercussions of a digitally crafted self in the age of the internet.

Payne's Trail

Payne's Trail is a domino style card game based around an invented myth from the very real Payne's Prairie located in the heart of Gainesville, Florida. Its visual style embraces themes of local lore and scenic views that one can expect to see on their journey through the prairie.
